Nestled quietly between two single storey river cottages, Old Ferry Drive is a two storey house, pretending to be something much smaller. The playful geometry of cantilevered elements allows the riverside elevation to appear as a simple domestic house, but when viewed obliquely, the three dimensional nature of the design becomes apparent.

Old Ferry Drive is a highly sustainable, near net zero Carbon house. High levels of thermal insulation throughout mean that the energy consumption is low. Air source heat pumps provide the space heating whilst roof mounted photovoltaic panels feed power into the pumps. The result is that the house can operate practically ‘off grid’ in daylight hours.
